The smallest thing can become art if it is done with love.
I like this quote because it reminds us of the importance of small things: buttons and pins, pen and ink, a pearl earring, a simple word at the right moment. The greatest art is created thanks to the smallest details – a tilling farmer, a gap between a woman's teeth, the dirty toes of a black-winged Eros, a boy in black with a mousetrap. We cannot all be masters, but that does not mean we cannot follow their example. We can all use our love – that wonderful mixture of dedication and discipline, passion and patience, curiosity and creativity – to create our own personal masterpieces one detail at a time in art, in language and in life.
