Reading List
For part of your mark, you must read one book in English each term and write a book report about it.
First term – Book report due before or on 21 December.
Second term – Book report due before or on 24 April.
Any report turned in after the due date will be marked down one full mark for each week it is late.
Reports containing any part copied from the web will automatically receive a mark of 1.
The objectives of this exercise are
· to encourage you to read a good book in English;
· to help you develop critical thinking;
· to give you practice in organising and in writing an informative text in English.
First term – choose one of the following books:

Hard Times – Charles Dickens

Edgar Allen Poe – Three or four short stories

Online Books
Many classic books and stories are available to read for free online or download in pdf. Here are some sites that have free online books. Look for your book among them.
Project Gutenberg
This is one of the oldest and most well-known sites, with over 40,000 titles (including some Italian books). Many, but not all, books are also available in more than one format.

This site has over 1 million books and is managed by the University of Pennsylvania.
Lit2Go
Managed by the University of Southern Florida, this site has classic books that can be read online or downloaded in pdf. There are also mp3 recordings of the books that you can listen to while you read or download to your mp3 player.
Free Audio Books
The selection is not so large as on the other sites listed here, but you can download the books in mp3 format and listen.
